Driver Killed, Passenger Critical After Another Car Ran Red Light On Route 130: Police (Update)

Police have released details in a crash that happened on Route 130 in Hamilton early Wednesday, July 10.

A 55-year-old man from Voorhees was killed and his 44-year-old passenger from Hamilton was left critical when they were struck by car that had ran a red light around 6 a.m., authorities said. Their names had not been released as of press time.

The car that ran the red was operated by a 51-year-old woman from Bordentown who was heading south on Route 130 near Klockner Road, according to police. Upon entering the intersection with Klockner Road she struck a 2020 Ford Edge SUV, driven by the 55-year-old man who was traveling east from Klockner Road.

The occupants in both vehicles were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where the driver of the Ford Edge died, according to police.

The passenger in the Ford Edge is listed in critical condition, and the driver of the Honda Accord is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Hamilton Township Fire Division, New Jersey State Police, Emergency Medical Services and the New Jersey State Department of Transportation.

The crash is being investigated by Officers J. Galant and B. Mandelko of the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit. Any witnesses are asked to contact the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit at (609) 581-4000.
